Solar Potential 2.0
Solar Potential gives data related to solar photovoltaic(PV)potential for entire India and it exclusively gives dataforGujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The data isconciselydisplayed in form of monthly and yearly energygeneration(kWh/acre). Here, the locations with high and low solarenergygeneration potential in India have been identifiedthroughsystematic analysis by computing the solar energy parametersatevery grid point (1˚ × 1˚). The work has been extended withmoredetailed study for Gujarat,Andhra Pradesh and the newlyformedTelangana states. The data points considered for the statesare(0.25˚ × 0.25˚) having resulted in adding more number oflocations.User should know these two geographical coordinates forthe desiredlocation. In the application the range of latitude andlongitude isalso specified. A user needs to enter the latitude andlongitudedata in specific form which is explained in theapplication. In Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute(GERMI),scientific research has been carried out to gatherinformation onsolar energy potential prior to the installation ofsolarphotovoltaic power plant at some location in India. Soseveralcomputations and simulations were performed to findenergygeneration of locations of India. So the data was decided tobeused in the form of an application so that people can knowaboutthe scopes of solar photovoltaic installation. The data presented and displayed here for India, Gujarat,AndhraPradesh and Telangana are based on the modelling studiesusingsatellite based data. More details can be found in thepublishedresearch paper (mentioned in the application). Authors arenotresponsible for outside the published data.
Solar PV Potential 1.0.1
Solar Potential gives data related tosolarphotovoltaic (PV) potential for entire India and itexclusivelygives data for Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The data isconcisely displayed in form of monthly and yearly energygeneration(kWh/acre). Here, the locations with high and low solarenergygeneration potential in India have been identifiedthroughsystematic analysis by computing the solar energy parametersatevery grid point (0.1˚ × 0.1˚). The work has been extendedwithmore detailed study for Gujarat,Andhra Pradesh and the newlyformedTelangana states. The data points considered for the statesare(0.1˚ × 0.1˚) having resulted in adding more number oflocations. In Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute(GERMI),scientific research has been carried out to gatherinformation onsolar energy potential prior to the installation ofsolarphotovoltaic power plant at some location in India. Wind Potential 1.0
The gap between energy demand anditsgeneration is constantly widening. People have started givingmoreemphasis on renewable sources of energy. This paper presentstheestimation of potential for wind energy generation maps basedonfixed wind turbine capacity. Although wind energy hasdevelopedsubstantially in recent years, we have only wind speed andwindpotential density maps. Our attempt here is to generate windenergygeneration potential maps. Major step in achieving this goalismodeling of wind energy conversion system using TRNSYSsoftware. The model consists of three main components namely theweather, theturbines and energy conversion parameters. The weatherdata areprovided from the meteorological database, namelyMeteonorm. Thesimulated output is compared with actual windgeneration of windfarms. After comparing our model results with theexisting windenergy generation data, we have extended to computethe wind energygeneration for all locations in India. Forsimulation, 4691locations are identified considering 0.25˚ × 0.25˚interval. Theenergy generation simulated data are compiled anddeveloped intomaps that are useful to all wind energy developers. The datagenerated and presented in the form of maps are for all the30states of India.
